Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers and Kamloops Minor Hockey Association are excited to announce the launch of the Junior Blazers Hockey Development Program. The Kamloops Blazers and KMHA have a long history of successful partnership committed to developing our young hockey players from the novice to bantam levels who will be representing the Junior Blazers Spring Hockey teams.
The objective of the Junior Blazers Hockey Development Program is to provide an elite hockey development opportunity that encourages players to excel both on and off the ice through strong coaching and mentorship. The program will consist of three components including Junior Blazers Spring Hockey teams, Hockey Development and Training Camps and the Junior Blazers Spring Hockey Invitational Championship.
“We are excited to provide our leadership, knowledge, expertise and brand to the development of young players in Kamloops, the greater Thompson/Okanagan area and across the province,” stated Don Moores, President, COO and Alternate Governor of the Kamloops Blazers Hockey Club. “Spring hockey development has grown significantly in the past number of years and many players are now playing the game outside of the traditional winter months.”
“Our goal is to help the kids reach their maximum potential in the game of hockey” commented Troy Larsen, Vice President of KMHA, and Director of Operations for the Junior Blazers Development Program. “Through our continued partnership with the Kamloops Blazers, we will provide young developing hockey players with the opportunity to participate in a program where they will experience both on-ice and off-ice development in a way that has not been offered to this extent before.”
This year’s program will feature several development and training camps throughout the traditional minor hockey season commencing mid-October. Identification camps and player recruitment for the Junior Blazer Spring Hockey teams will continue throughout the fall and winter season with final selection camps taking place in late December. The Spring Hockey Team season will run from late March to early June with the inaugural Junior Blazers Spring Hockey Championships being scheduled over 3 weekends in April for the various team divisions. Summer skills and development camps will run through July and August as preseason prep camps for the following minor hockey season.
